About Us

The Wicklow Triple A Alliance was established in February 2002 by a group of concerned parents and family members. It aimed to support families, provide information, and seek educational facilities and resources for children and adults living with Autism, Asperger Syndrome and A.D.H.D.

The organisation holds a wide range of events - some for parents and family members and others aimed at children and young people with a condition on the Autistic Spectrum. Each year we hold a number of support meetings, invite guest speakers to talk to our members, have an Annual Dinner, and a social evening. We also have social/activity clubs for the children and young adults. These clubs organise cinema trips, bowling, and a number of outings. (See our page on Activities.)

From an informational and educational point of view, the Wicklow Triple A Alliance has played a prominent role in raising awareness of Autism, Asperger Syndrome and A.D.H.D. through the local media, information pamphlets, and community-supported fundraisers. We were delighted to work with Wicklow V.E.C. and school authorities to assist in establishing a facility for children with high-functioning Autism within a mainstream secondary school in recent years. We believe this is very progressive and are currently seeking to expand this model to many more schools.

We have often said that the happiest day for all of us involved in the Triple A will be when it no longer needs to exist - when every child born with a condition on the Autistic Spectrum receives the resources, the education, and the assistance they need - and when all parents receive the support, advice, and encouragement they require. Until that day arrives we will continue to do our bit and play our part in supporting families, bringing people together, and seeking improvements.
